BETH HEYDENRYCH TOWN PLANNING

Registered Town Planner: South African Council for Planners (Registration Number: A/694/1992)

This Logo is based on the "Randjeslaagte triangle" - the original Johannesburg Township layout. Barbara Quilliam first used it and when Beth joined her in 1991, it formed the basis of their logo for Quilliam and Heydenrych Town Planners. It has now been updated and further stylized.

There are commemorative plaques at each corner of the Randjeslaagte triangle. The eastern and western ones say "This site marks the eastern/ western boundary of the Randjeslaagte Triangle where Johannesburg was founded in 1886. Randjeslaagte was a piece of Uitvalgrond - land left over from the farms around it." The northern beacon, on Clarendon Place is on the edge of Wits University land where the "Wits Junction" residential campus was built a few years ago, which was Beth’s first project for Wits University’s Campus Planning & Development department. The plaque on Clarendon Place was erected as part of that development.

If we think we have little heritage in Johannesburg, we're wrong!
